Mother Earth
Who's there, in the dark, when you're lost...
A new musical premiering at Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2026.
Cadet Earth is on a journey across the stars to complete her mission, but when the sunstroked Sol sets his insatiable desire on the inbound planets she’ll have to rely on any help she can. No matter how small. Tap into your inner strength and lean on your community to find your place in the universe with Mother Earth’s light-hearted reimagining of how our planet came to be.
Gaia Earth is a quick thinking and head strong Cadet and is committed to her work before everything else. Having experienced personal loss before the start of the play she harbours a secret wish to have a place to feel safe again in order to build a family, but the intervening years since has made her blind to how her independence has slipped into stubbornness. Strong singer, comfortable to sing solo.
Moon begins as small and timid, having distanced himself from the comet community. However when Gaia Earth starts to look out for him he begins to believe in himself and slowly grows until he is willing to put himself in harms way to protect her. Strong singer, comfortable to sing solo
Sol is self absorbed and thinks they are the centre of the universe making them is quick to anger when challenged by people not as strong as them. Their selfish pursuits have pushed everyone to fear them, only confirming they can get whatever they want with enough force. When the new planets arrive they quickly jump to self serving desires for water and fame resorting to seduction and destructive planning to get what they want. Good dancer preferable, strong singer, comfortable to sing solo
Time is an omnipresent and benevolent being who spends his time bringing order to things and nurturing anything that might need a little care. Whilst being an ancient being he has a youthful energy about the universe that he cherishes. He acts as narrator being the only character made of a concept but intervenes in the story when he requires to guide the players and encourage them to reach their full potential. Good dancer preferable, strong singer, comfortable to sing solo
The ensemble is made up of a plethora of characters which makes up the rest of our solar system. Switching between sun rays to comets to other planets they build the world in which we are in. Comfortable singing, dancing ability preferred
Please note vocal ranges are a guide. We are happy to work with the cast if adjustments are necessary
